How does the Instagram audit work?

The free audit reviews your profile and posts from the last 30 days. It checks five areas: profile setup, posting consistency, engagement, content mix and comments.

Your results include a score out of 100, a breakdown of each area and a suggested next step. You’ll also see the post that received the most likes and comments.

The audit uses public data. Connect an account you manage to include private metrics such as reach, Stories performance and follower growth in a detailed report.

What does your score mean?

Your score combines the available checks into a total out of 100.

ScoreRatingWhat it means
70–100GoodYour account scores well overall. Review the breakdown for areas to improve.
45–69AverageSeveral areas could use attention. Start with the suggested next step.
0–44Needs attentionThe audit found several areas to improve. Focus on one change at a time.

The score gives you a starting point for reviewing your account. It covers public profile and posting data, so it doesn’t reflect every aspect of your Instagram performance.

Frequently asked questions

Which accounts can I audit?

The free audit works with public Instagram Business and Creator accounts. Private and personal accounts aren’t supported.

How is the free audit different from the detailed report?

The free audit scores your public profile and posts from the last 30 days. The detailed report reviews six months of data from a connected account, including metrics such as reach, follower growth and Stories performance. The AI Analyst grades six areas and recommends what to improve.

Can I see a sample report?

Yes. The report templates page includes previews of the account audit and other AI Analyst reports.

Do I need to share my Instagram password?

No. The free audit only needs a username. For the detailed report, you grant read-only access through Instagram or Facebook. Minter.io never receives your password, and you can disconnect at any time.

Can I audit a client or competitor?

You can run the free audit on any public Business or Creator account. For a detailed client audit, your client needs to grant access. Competitor accounts without granted access support analytics and selected reports, but not the detailed account audit.

Does the audit support other social networks?

The free audit is for Instagram. Detailed account audit reports are also available for connected TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Threads accounts. See the report templates.

What happens when the trial ends?

After 14 days, you’ll need a paid plan to continue. Plans start at $19 per month. No credit card is required for the trial, so you won’t be charged automatically.
